Robur is Bath-based singer-songwriter Naomi Cook. Meaning ‘strength’ in Latin, the name reflects her music: powerful but with a spine-tingling intimacy.

“For me, songwriting is the place for hard truths and honesty," explains Cook. "It’s a way of saying things that can otherwise feel impossible to express. Emotion and lyrics are central, with guitar and other instruments in a supporting role." She continues, "I’ve always been drawn to songs that have a darkness, melancholy or edge to them. Whether that's jazz standards, singer-songwriters of the 60s and 70s, 90s triphop, post-grunge, alt rock, or indie folk, I’m proud to credit these influences in my writing."

‘Robur’ also refers to the English oak tree. "It represents my appreciation of the way music enables us to connect on a visceral level," says Cook. "It can awaken something wild within us. As a listener, writer and performer, music makes me feel more human than almost anything else.”
